deeply committed to the promotion of environmental hygiene and public
health. He was educated at the University of Calcutta where he qualified
with a first degree in Civil Engineering, obtaining his Master's degree
in Public Health Engineering in 1969 and a Diploma in Sanitary Engineering
(Delft, The Netherlands) in 1975. International
